Every school in this guide has its own page, linked below. For the district calendar, enrollment rules and the school board, see our Mount Pleasant schools guide.
The Town of Mount Pleasant does not run schools. Its public schools are run by Charleston County School District (CCSD), 843-937-6300, which serves the whole county.
School zones do not follow the town limits. The district draws its own elementary, middle and high school zones, and two of the zones that feed Mount Pleasant’s schools, Sullivan’s Island Elementary’s and the St. James-Santee zone to the north, lie mostly outside the town. All but one of the 40,469 town address points we checked against the district’s zone layers fell in one of the eight elementary zones below; the one exception, on Marshwind Island Road, is in the St. James-Santee zone.

How the zones fit together
In the district’s zone layers, Mount Pleasant splits between two high school feeder lines:
- Wando High: Carolina Park Elementary and the Laurel Hill Primary and Charles Pinckney Elementary pair feed Thomas C. Cario Middle; Jennie Moore Elementary feeds Laing Middle; and part of the Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary zone goes through Moultrie Middle.
- Lucy Garrett Beckham High: James B. Edwards Elementary, Mt. Pleasant Academy and most of the Whitesides zone feed Moultrie Middle; Belle Hall Elementary feeds Laing Middle.
We did not find a published feeder list on the district’s site, so these pairings come from its zone layers. The 2026-27 elementary zones in those layers match 2025-26 for every Mount Pleasant zone, and we found no rezoning approved by the board that changes them.
The tables are in alphabetical order. The rating column gives the school’s overall rating and points on South Carolina’s 2024-25 report card, which rates schools Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average or Unsatisfactory, and links to the full card; East Cooper Montessori gets a rating for each level it teaches.
