Mount Pleasant has three high school football programs in three different classes. Wando plays in the state’s largest class, 5A. Lucy Beckham, the town’s other public high school, is in 4A. Oceanside Collegiate Academy is in 3A. Wando hosts Cane Bay tonight, Friday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m., and the SCHSL playoffs start Friday, Nov. 6.

The Oct. 16 game is also Teacher Appreciation, Military Appreciation and Youth Rec Night. Home games are at Wando, 1000 Warrior Way. The crosstown game went to Lucy Beckham, 28-10, on Sept. 4.
The playoffs
The SCHSL’s 2026 brackets split each class into an Upper State and a Lower State half, with 12 teams in each half. Seeding is statewide: the three region champions with the best RPI take seeds 1 to 3, the three best region runners-up take 4 to 6, and the next six teams by RPI fill seeds 7 to 12. The top four seeds in each half skip the first round. The better seed hosts.

All six state finals are at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium at South Carolina State University, 300 College Ave. in Orangeburg. The SCHSL schedule:

- Class 5A: 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5
The Lower State champion is the home team in each final. Ticket prices, parking and gate times for the finals have not been announced; the SCHSL says it will post them on the hub.
