Admission

The school has no attendance zone; it fills seats by lottery. Its admissions page says:

  • Applications for 2027-28 open Jan. 1, 2027, and must be completed by Jan. 31, 2027, to be in the lottery.
  • Only current eighth graders or high school students may apply.
  • If there are more applications than seats, the school holds a grade-by-grade lottery, scheduled for Feb. 15, 2027, with seat offers and waitlist positions emailed within two days.
  • Siblings of current students or of graduates from the last six years, and children of employees, get priority, up to 20% of enrollment; siblings must still apply during the window.
  • Applications after Jan. 31 go to the bottom of the waitlist in the order received. A waitlist for 2026-27 is open now.

The school holds information sessions it calls Shark Talks in December, January and February, and says everyone applying for 2027-28 should attend one.

Programs

In the state’s 2025 data, 86.9% of the graduating class met the state’s college-ready mark through dual-enrollment courses. The school publishes a 2026-27 dual-enrollment A-B schedule alongside its academic calendar.

Calendar and school hours

The school posts its 2026-27 academic calendar and its 2026-27 dual-enrollment A-B schedule on its calendars page; the page notes that South Carolina law requires 180 instructional days and three built-in weather make-up days. Confirm break dates and the school day there, because Charleston County School District’s calendar and bell schedule do not cover the school.
