Gardens and history

  • Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens, 1235 Long Point Road, opens Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The town’s guide points to its flower gardens with antique roses, its butterfly pavilion and its Gullah history presentations.
  • The Old Village Historic District is free to walk, from Pitt Street down to the Pitt Street Bridge, which the town names as one of its best sunset spots.
  • Patriots Point, 40 Patriots Point Road, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Willie’s Roadside Market, Boone Hall Farms, 2434 N. Highway 17: open daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sweetgrass baskets. The town calls Mount Pleasant the birthplace of sweetgrass basket weaving. Its Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Pavilion at Memorial Waterfront Park is closed for renovations, the town says; a temporary sweetgrass exhibit is at the Mount Pleasant Visitor Center next door.

Lowcountry Strawberry Festival

Boone Hall Farms’ Lowcountry Strawberry Festival ran over two weekends in 2026, April 24-26 and May 1-3, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., ending the weekend before Mother’s Day. Admission was $15, free for 2 and under, with rides extra. U-pick strawberries were open to festival guests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while berries lasted. Boone Hall had not posted 2027 dates as of Oct. 16, 2026.
