Date ideas the town recommends
The Town of Mount Pleasant’s tourism office lists these in its Valentine’s guide:
- Sunset at the Pitt Street Bridge. The old bridge at the end of the Old Village, once the road to Sullivan’s Island, is now a park with marsh views. It is free, and the town calls it one of the most romantic spots near Charleston.
- Dinner and a dock walk at Shem Creek. Have dinner at a waterfront restaurant, then walk the Shem Creek Park boardwalk, which the town says runs more than 2,000 feet over the marsh. See our Shem Creek guide.
- A picnic at Memorial Waterfront Park. The park at the base of the Ravenel Bridge, 99 Harry Hallman Blvd., is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and has lawns with views of the Cooper River. The Mount Pleasant Pier runs 1,250 feet into the harbor; it is open until 10 p.m.
- Kayaking. Coastal Expeditions rents kayaks and paddleboards and runs tours from its Shem Creek outpost.
- A show at The Venue MTP. The Venue MTP, 627 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Suite 107, is a community arts venue with theater, music and workshops. Check its February calendar.
- A dessert crawl. The town suggests sharing sweets at several bakeries and ice cream shops in one night. Our date night guide has the late-opening spots.
