Charleston County School District’s spring break is Monday, March 29, to Friday, April 2, 2027. Schools and district offices are closed all week. Easter falls the day before, on Sunday, March 28, so families get a nine-day stretch from Saturday, March 27, to Sunday, April 4. Private schools set their own calendars; check with yours.

Patriots Point admission covers the USS Yorktown, the Vietnam Experience and the Medal of Honor Museum. The museum says the destroyer USS Laffey is closed for maintenance; check before you go. Palmetto Islands has the Big Toy playground, the 50-foot Nature Island tower, paved trails and bike rentals from 10 a.m. ($5 an hour). The pools’ weekly schedule changes; the town posts it on its pool schedule page.

Camps

The Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department and Charleston County Parks both run camps. Charleston County Parks says it offers spring, summer and winter camps; the town’s camps page lists summer camps at the R.L. Jones Center, Miriam Brown Annex, Park West Recreation Complex and the G.M. Darby Building. Neither had posted spring break 2027 camp dates as of Oct. 16. New households must set up a town recreation account in person, with proof of residency and each child’s birth certificate.

Spring events around the break

  • ArtFest, Saturday, March 20, 2027, the date on the town’s special events page. In 2026 it filled Mount Pleasant Towne Centre from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with juried art from the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild, live demonstrations and free family activities; admission and parking were free, the town’s ArtFest listing said.
  • Easter, Sunday, March 28. Egg hunts are on our Easter page.
  • Lowcountry Strawberry Festival at Boone Hall Farms. In 2026 it ran April 24-26 and May 1-3, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; 2027 dates are not out yet, Boone Hall says.
  • Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival, held on the last Sunday in April, which in 2027 is April 25. In 2026 it ran 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Memorial Waterfront Park, with a shrimp boat parade and blessing, seafood, live music and a shrimp-eating contest, according to the town’s festival listing.
