Mount Pleasant's Fourth of July fireworks go up from Patriots Point. In 2026 the ticketed show aboard the USS Yorktown ran 7 to 10 p.m. 2027 plans are not out yet.

Last checked Oct. 12, 2026. This page is updated each year. Patriots Point has not announced its 2027 Fourth of July plans, so the details below are from the 2026 show, as published in Patriots Point’s April 9, 2026, announcement (PDF) and on the town’s Experience Mount Pleasant listing. In 2026 tickets went on sale in April; we will replace these details when the 2027 plans are out.

Mount Pleasant’s Independence Day fireworks go up over Charleston Harbor from Patriots Point. The museum’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular is a ticketed party on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown, supported by the Town of Mount Pleasant and the USS Yorktown Foundation. Anyone can watch from the town’s waterfront parks for free.

Watching for free

If the Yorktown sells out, the town’s tourism site says anywhere in Mount Pleasant with a view of the sky over Charleston Harbor will do. It names:

  • Memorial Waterfront Park and the Mount Pleasant Pier, under the Ravenel Bridge
  • Shem Creek Park, on the boardwalk off Coleman Boulevard
  • Pitt Street Bridge Park, in the Old Village
  • Open areas of Patriots Point outside the ticketed ship

The Wonders’ Way path on the Ravenel Bridge is closed during the show and is not a viewing spot. More on these places is in our parks and trails guide.

About Patriots Point

Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum sits on Charleston Harbor at the foot of the Ravenel Bridge on the Mount Pleasant side. It is home to a fleet of National Historic Landmark ships led by the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, and it is headquarters of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and its Medal of Honor Museum, the museum says. On a normal day it opens at 10 a.m.; on July 4 it closes early for the show, so a daytime visit and the fireworks need separate plans. Tickets for the museum itself are sold on its ticketing page.

Fireworks at home

Before you set off your own fireworks inside town limits, ask the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, 843-884-0623, what town rules allow. Keep a bucket of water nearby and soak spent fireworks before they go in the trash cart.

What this means for you

  • Watch for the 2027 ticket announcement in the spring; in 2026 sales opened April 9.
  • Free viewing spots fill early; bring chairs and arrive before dark.
  • Do not plan to walk the Ravenel Bridge to watch.
